How to Prepare STL Files for Reliable 3D Printing
Export settings, mesh repairs, and orientation tips so your custom print quote matches the final part.
A clean STL is the foundation of an accurate print quote. Before uploading to our instant quote tool, check that your mesh is watertight, scaled in millimetres, and free of inverted normals.
Export tips
Use fine tessellation for curved surfaces, but avoid extremely dense meshes that slow slicing without improving accuracy.
Wall thickness
For FDM, keep functional walls at least 1.2–1.6 mm depending on nozzle size and material.
